Berlin-based, Australian Jessica Aszodi is a genre-bounding & label-defying performer. Her practice encompasses writing, curation, composing and performances of classical repertoire, experimental music, opera and music theatre.
She has sung with many lauded ensembles and opera companies, and at festivals around the world including the National Theatre of Tokyo, Victorian Opera, Wiener Volksoper, Aspen Music Festival, Ensemble Musikfabrik, Nederlands Reisopera, Munich Biennale, Darmstadt, Aldeburgh, Tectonics, & Tanglewood.
She was awarded ‘Performance of the Year’ (2019) at the Australian Art-Music Awards and twice nominated as female operatic performer of the year (Greenroom Awards). Her artistic research investigates embodied technique in practice, politics and performance. She holds a Doctorate from Griffith University,a Master of Arts from the University of California, and has written scholarly articles for several books & journals.
